Admissions

Here’s what you’ll need to apply to the UMES B.S. in Sport Management:

  • Completed application, available online here. Apply via the Common App, Black Common App, or UMES standard application.
    • The Common App is used to apply to multiple institutions, the Black Common App is used to apply to multiple HBCU’s, and the UMES standard application is used to apply to UMES only.
  • High School Diploma or GED. You must have a minimum GPA of 2.5 for first-time freshmen or 2.0 for transfer students. Minimum high school requirements for first-time freshmen:
    • English: 3 units
    • Mathematics: 2 units
    • Natural Sciences: 2 units
    • Social Sciences: 2 units
    • For first-time freshmen, we also look at standardized test scores, if you choose to submit them (UMES has a test-optional policy).
    • UMES also considers the following factors when making admissions decisions:
      • Class rank
      • Pattern of courses completed
      • Educational objectives
      • Standardized test scores (optional)
      • Recommendation letters (optional)
      • Record of past conduct

Your application will be reviewed when it is received along with all required materials, and you will be informed of our decision.

Application Deadlines

  • Fall Semester: May 1 (priority deadline: February 15)
  • Spring Semester: December 1st

International Students

International applicants are required to provide original transcripts evaluated by WES (World Evaluation Services) and TOEFL scores of 61 or higher for applicants whose first language is not English.
